Car service provider MyTVS is in talks with car-makers to set up exclusive authorised service centres, like the ones it runs for Tata cars.

TVS Automobile Solutions, which owns MyTVS, runs 63 multi-brand car service centres across South India, West Bengal and Gujarat. It also operates 12 exclusive Tata service workshops. (Earlier, it had run exclusive workshops for Fiat, but this deal ended around 2006.)

TVS Automobile Solutions wants to again revive its exclusive brand business.

“In today’s slowing economy, people are not buying new cars. They are holding on to existing cars or buying used cars. So, we are uniquely positioned to take advantage of the slowdown and OEMs can benefit from this,” says Sanjay Nigam, President and CEO.

The company also wants to woo luxury car-makers. “A part of our existing multi-brand workshop can be dedicated to high-end. They can take advantage of our presence in tier II and III towns where luxury cars are in demand. We could also set up standalone centres for them,” says Nigam.

Quick repair shops

MyTVS is also looking to set up quick-service repair shops in petrol pumps.

“These will offer basic services such as tyre pressure check, tube check, greasing, oiling, wheel alignment and quick repairs. This will get us closer to more customers since there is already good traffic flow at the petrol pumps.”

Parent company TVS & Sons is the franchisee for nine Bharat Petroleum petrol pumps in Tamil Nadu. MyTVS plans to offer quick-service at these outlets to start with.

Apart from car service, MyTVS also offers 24/7 road-side assistance.

MyTVS recently launched the ‘extended warranty services’ scheme, for seven years after the manufacturing warranty expires. This scheme, which was launched in Kolkata, will be rolled out in other cities soon.
