Narendra Kothari, 58, has formally taken over as CMD of NMDC. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet cleared Kothari’s appointment as CMD of the state-run miner early last week. Prior to this, Kothari had 18-moth stint as the CEO of SAIL’s Iisco Steel Plant (ISP) at Burnpur. A B.E. in metallurgical engineering from Malviya Regional Engineering College, Jaipur, Rajasthan, Kothari joined SAIL’s Durgapur Steel Plant in 1978 where he shouldered varied responsibilities in steel making before moving to SAIL’s Bhilai Steel Plant . CS Verma, SAIL’s CMD has been doubling up as the CMD of NMDC.
