TVS Motor Co has inducted Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu as brand ambassador ahead of a busy season, which includes the launch of a new scooter in the 110 cc category and two upgraded models.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event to introduce Mahesh Babu as brand ambassador, J. S. Srinivasan, Vice-President of Sales, said that even though the automotive market had been sluggish in the first few months of this year, it is likely to pick up in the second half.
But this projection depends on a good monsoon season because when the agricultural sector does well, people in the rural areas are more likely to buy new vehicles, he said.
The company is averaging sales volumes of about 1.55 lakh two- wheelers a month, which includes 65,000 to 70,000 mopeds, 50,000 to 55,000 motorcycles and about 35,000 scooters. “The launch of the Phoenix motorcycle in the 125 cc category will add to the overall volumes during the year,” he said.
Mahesh Babu will initially campaign for the Phoenix bike. He joins Indian cricket captain M. S. Dhoni, star batsman Viral Kohli and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma as the company’s brand ambassadors.
