Philips launches study on teen aspirations

Philips India has launched a study to understand the needs and aspirations of the country's millennials (Gen Y).

The Philips Foundation of Leadership for Youth (FLY) study will cover 5,000 schools to get an understanding of the millennials at a time when their thoughts about careers are in the formative stage.

Targeted at the 10th-12th standard students, the findings of the study will be used to enhance the effectiveness of career counselling in schools. This will also influence the development of appropriate policies and initiatives to aims to help the youth make informed decisions about their careers and support the building of a robust pipeline of talent for the industry.

The study will educate the youth about the corporate sector and how they can excel early in their careers.

In Phase I, the study has been piloted at Scindia (Boys) School Gwalior and ScindiaKanya (Girls) Vidyalaya, Gwalior. In the next phase, schools in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi/ Gurgaon and Bangalore will be covered, while the third phase will cover schools in other areas.

Philips will train 60 HR professionals from Philips India on market research techniques who would then be initiated into the field for the study.
