Ring Plus Aqua, the auto components business arm of Raymond Ltd has acquired a majority stake in Pune-based Trinity India Ltd, a manufacturer of forged components. The deal was funded through internal accruals.
The acquisition marks Ring Plus Aqua’s entry into the forging industry, adding to its current portfolio of auto components which includes flywheel ring gears, flexplate assemblies, integral shaft bearings and sheet metal pulleys.
Mr Harshal Jayavant, President – Engineering Business, Raymond Ltd, said, “This move significantly strengthens our position in the global automotive powertrain domain,” adding that following it, the company is looking at an added revenue of Rs 80 crore during FY 12.
The expansion into forgings also provides Raymond an opportunity to look at fast developing non-auto sectors such as power, aviation, defence and nuclear equipment.
The Indian forging industry is estimated at $2.9 billion, while the global industry is valued at over $115 billion.
Headquartered in Pune, Trinity has four manufacturing locations with an installed forging capacity of 12,500 tonnes, and employs around 400 people. It supplies hubs, spindles, connecting rods and similar components to a host OEMs.
Ring Plus Aqua supplies ring gears, water pump bearings and other applications globally.
