SAIL R&D unit ties up with Shyam Metallics for energy saving project

The Research and Development Centre for Iron and Steel (RDCIS), Pune, SAIL’s research wing, on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding with Odisha-based Shyam Metallics & Energy Ltd for a special energy-saving scheme. According to a press statement, Shyam Metallics will be one of the partners in a project to introduce “retrofitting technology” in the re-heating furnaces at SAIL’s small and medium re-rolling mills to reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. RDCIS was awarded the project by Petroleum Conservation Research Association under Ministry of Oil & Petroleum.
