Steel Authority of India has approached the Home Ministry seeking adequate deployment of CRPF battalions to start the Rs 5,000-crore development work on Rowghat iron ore mines in Chhattisgarh.
“SAIL has presented its case to the Home Ministry a couple of times,” a senior steel ministry official told.
The steel maker had received the environment and forest clearances in 2009 for developing the prolific mines but could not make progress on account of naxal activities in the area.
