As part of extending the activities of the State Agriculture Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), established under a Centrally sponsored scheme, two satellite centres will be established in Kozhikode and Ernakulam.
SAMETI was established as an autonomous institute in Thriuvananthapuram to provide capacity building support in extension management to extension functionaries and consultancy services for project planning and implementation. In addition to SAMETI, practical, oriented training on crop production aspects is also being conducted by seven Regional Agricultural Technology Training Centres (RATTCs) of the Agriculture Department.
The Government has now approved upgrading the RATTCs in Kozhikode and Ernakulam to satellite centres of SAMETI for strengthening the agricultural extension activities in the State.
The centres will conduct sponsored training programme, co-ordinate the exposure visits of extension functionaries of agriculture and allied sectors, organise State-level exhibitions and provide consultancy services.
