Telugu film star Mahesh Babu will now bat for promotion of new Santoor soap of Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting.
The company will be launching promotional campaigns featuring the popular actor to promote the ‘re-launched' Santoor brand, Mr Anil Chugh, Senior Vice-President Wipro Consumer Care, told newspersons here on Wednesday.
“Generally once in every 18-25 months, customers expect some changes in the brand. That's why we are re-launching the soap,'' he said.
Currently, Santoor soap is the third largest soap brand in the country after Lifebouy and Lux. “We have about 8 per cent share in soap market which is valued at Rs 8,000 crore per annum,'' he said.
Last year, Santoor was about Rs 700 crore brand and the company is expecting to cloak a business of Rs 1,000 crore in the current financial year. In Andhra Pradesh, Santoor was the number one brand, he said.
Wipro has also finalised other celebrities to act as brand ambassadors for Santoor in north India and other states, he added.
