Dubai-based Scion International will enter the mid-segment fragrances market in India.

The company is launching its range of body sprays and perfumes across South India this week.

Mr Jay Sheth, CEO, Scion International, said that the company expects to capture at least 5 per cent of the fragrances market in the next two years.

Scion's products, priced between Rs 99 and Rs 699, will use the ‘value for money' positioning to gain this market share in the country.

The Indian body spray market is estimated to be about Rs 1,200 crore growing at 25 per cent.

The perfumes market is valued at about Rs 600 crore.

Scion International is headquartered in Dubai, with manufacturing units in UAE, South Africa and India (Chennai) and has an annual turnover of over €100 million.

The company is also a contract manufacturer for other global brands such as Yardley, Wella Cosmetics, Coty Inc, and Target.

The Group comprises 14 companies worldwide engaged in developing, manufacturing and distribution of fragrances, hair, beauty, skin care and other personal care products.

Scion's brands of products are currently being marketed in 70 countries.
