Simbhaoli Sugars net loss widened to Rs 41.82 crore for the first quarter ended on March 31, due to higher expenses and finance cost.
The company had posted a loss of Rs 20.53 crore in the same period last year.
Total income, however, jumped to Rs 305.30 crore during April-June quarter, from Rs 173.93 crore in the same period year-ago period, Simbhaoli Sugars said in a filing to the BSE.
Total expenses increased significantly to Rs 312.65 crore from Rs 166.86 crore in the review period. Similarly, finance cost also increased to Rs 38.55 from Rs 30.98 crore in the period under review.
The national capital-based Simbhaoli Sugars has three sugar facilities in Uttar Pradesh, with a production capacity of three lakh tonnes per annum. It also has alcohol distilleries alongside sugar facilities.
