Hyderabad-based Sunshine Hospitals, specialist in orthopaedic care, plans to open three 200-bed hospitals over the next couple of years.
According to AV Gurava Reddy, Managing Director, Sunshine Hospitals, of the proposed three hospitals, one each will be located at Hyderabad, Kolkata and Bhubaneswar. Reddy, a renowned orthopaedic surgeon, is the chief surgeon at Sunshine Hospitals.
While the facilities at Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar are likely to be operational in six months, the hospital at Kolkata is expected to be opened in two years.
“We are looking forward to adding three more hospitals soon. Two 200-bed hospitals will be operational in about six months,” Reddy told
The group recently opened a clinic in Kolkata to treat the post-operation patients from eastern parts of the country and Bangladesh. The existing 400-bed hospital in Hyderabad receives around 800 patients from the East and a few patients from Bangladesh annually.
“If we receive good response and queries from new patients, we may open a 200-bed hospital for hip and knee replacement in Kolkata,” Reddy said.
Apart from Kolkata, the other two hospitals would entail an estimated investment of nearly ₹110 crore (excluding the land cost), he added. The second hospital at Hyderabad would cost around ₹60 crore.
He, however, did not disclose the investment figure for the proposed hospital in Kolkata.
Given the available estimates for Hyderabad, a 200-bed hospital for orthopaedic care should cost between ₹50 and 60 crore (excluding land cost).
The group has recently opened two other clinics in Raichur and Gulbarga in Karnataka.
