The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Monday released the amended draft of the regulation on the duration of advertisements on television channels.
The regulator had first notified the ‘Standards of Quality of Service (Duration of Advertisements in Television Channel) Regulations on May 14. Several broadcasters had challenged it in TDSAT, leading to a review by the regulator.
As far as limiting of duration of advertisements per hour to 12 minutes is concerned, the Authority said prescribing to Cable Television Networks rules, the regulation will be done on a clock hour basis.
It also said in the draft regulation that broadcasters would need to submit details of advertisement carried in their channels on a quarterly basis. Stakeholders have to submit comments by September 11.
