Two-wheeler major TVS has become the principal sponsor of Pune Warriors, the IPL team owned by the Sahara Group, and the team has also signed up the UB Group and Finolex Cables.

The Yuvraj Singh-led team has also roped in auto lubricant maker Valvoline Cummins as its ‘leading leg partner’.

“Pune Warriors has a strong line-up of sponsors, including TVS as the principal sponsor and UB Group, Finolex and Valvoline Cummins as other partners,” a person close to the development told PTI without giving financial details.

Team officials declined to comment and further details on the principal sponsorship, such as the financials involved and tenure of contract, could not be ascertained.

Valvoline Cummins, on the other hand, said the company’s logo will be seen on the leading leg of the players’ trousers during the matches.

“We hope that Yuvraj Singh and his boys (team mates) will be able to repeat the World Cup success and it will also give a good presence to the Valvoline brand in India,” the Valvoline Cummins Marketing Head, Mr Sandeep Singla, said.

He said the company sponsors car races in the US and also has Ricky Ponting as the ambassador for India and Australia. “It is for the first time that we are associating with an IPL team,” Mr Singla added.

One of the two latest entrants in the IPL, the Pune Warriors has already signed a uniform sponsorship deal with German sportswear maker Adidas. The team’s sponsorship deals are being handled by Percept Sport.
