Tata BP Solar will execute an engineering, procurement and construction contract of 5 MW for Electrical Manufacturing Company, Kolkata, under the NTPC-NVVN (NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd) scheme of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission.
The project is scheduled for operation by December 2011.
The scheme designates NVVN as a nodal agency for entering into power purchase agreements (PPA) with developers to be fed into the 33 KV and above grid, adhering to the tariff and PPA period determined by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission. The Power Ministry will allocate to NVVN, an equivalent megawatt capacity from NTPC stations, at the rate notified by the Regulatory Commission for bundling together with solar power. The allocation will be from the Central unallocated quota and NVVN will sell the power to State utilities.
Tata BP said the project at Naini, Uttar Pradesh, would have 24,530 crystalline silicon modules on 25 acres.
The direct current generated would be converted to alternating current by inverters, stepped up to 33 KV by transformers and fed to grid lines of discoms of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation.
Tata BP Solar will also provide operation and maintenance services for the plant for the first 10 years after commissioning.
The plant is designed for 25 years and the crystalline silicon modules manufactured and supplied by Tata BP are also guaranteed for the period with minimal degradation in output.
Tata BP Solar India said it is executing over 15 major projects in different parts of country, including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.
