Tata Communications has won a deal to offer wide area network connectivity to cargo handling solutions provider Finland-based Cargotec. The Tata group company, under the agreement, will offer connectivity to over 150 Cargotec sites globally through its fibre optic cable network.
A wide area network or WAN is a telecommunications network covering a broad area.
This will enable Cargotec to improve productivity and operational efficiency across the world by streamlining its supply chain operations. The company has operations in more than 50 countries across Europe, Asia, West Asia, Americas and Africa, Tata Communications said in a statement.
Tata Communications has global network that helps in reducing the chances of network failure, and will extend services wherever Cargotec’s business grows, the statement added.
Tata Communications has recently completed the first round-the-world fibre optic cable network.
