Six of the nine persons admitted to the Tata Main Hospital at Jamshedpur on Monday after a clash between Tata Steel security personnel and contract labourers were discharged on Tuesday.
Sanjiv Paul, Vice-President, Corporate Services, told Business Line that one security personnel with “muscle injury” was yet to be released. “Two others were operated upon and were out of danger,” he added.
The two, including a photojournalist, had multiple injuries from “pellets,” fired by the security personnel. Jamashedpur City Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Jha said two guns were seized from the security personnel. “Despite raids and arrest warrants, two of the security personnel, against whom charges have been filed, could not be nabbed, as they were found absconding,” Jha said. Meanwhile, the East Singbhum district administration has asked the company to allow contract labourers inside the plant on their bi-cycles or two-wheelers. A district official said the Tata Steel management complied with the instruction from Tuesday.
