Tata Motors said on Tuesday it expects to sell around 2.75 lakh units of light commercial vehicles in the two-tonne category this fiscal.
Mr Anil Kapur, Head, Sales and Marketing, LCVs, said the company expects to have a 56-57 per cent share in this product segment. It has a 83 per cent market share in the seven-tonne category, 73 per cent in the four-tonne and nearly 20 per cent in the 1-1.2 tonne slot.
Affordable transportation
Tata Motors launched the ‘Venture' multipurpose vehicle in Maharashtra priced between Rs 4 and Rs 5 lakh.
Built on the popular ‘Ace' platform and fitted with the Indigo sedan's 1.4 litre turbodiesel engine, the vehicle intends to provide affordable transportation to large families. It is available in five, seven and eight seat configurations.
“This will be the first product to be retailed through our commercial vehicle and car networks. It is meant to accommodate a family with luggage and aimed at a customer looking at the price point of B segment small cars,” said Mr S.G. Saksena, Head, Utility-Vehicles.
The ‘Venture' has features such as reverse parking sensors, dual air-conditioning, power steering and a four-speaker music system. It aims to fit the gap between the Maruti Eeco on the lower end and the Mahindra Xylo in the upper.
