Toyota Kirloskar Motor today reported an 78.98 per cent increase in car sales to 16,659 units in February, driven by robust demand for its latest ‘Etios’ and ‘Liva’ models.
The company had sold 9,308 units in the corresponding month last year, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) said in a statement.
TKM, a joint venture between the world’s largest carmaker Toyota and the Kirloskar Group, attributed the growth to healthy sales of its Etios sedan and small car Liva.
“We have seen good sales last month across all our products. The Etios series continues to lead the sales. New Innova and New Fortuner are registering good sales numbers,” TKM Deputy Managing Director (Marketing), Mr Sandeep Singh, said.
With an increased production capacity and expanded dealer network, the company is now able to reach closer to customers, which has helped in increasing sales, he added.
The company sold 4,590 units of the Etios and 3,437 units of the Liva last month. It also sold 6,271 units of the new version of multi-utility vehicle Innova, besides 1,346 units of the new Fortuner SUV.
Luxury sedan Corolla Altis contributed to the sales tally with 996 units, TKM said.
