High costs and a weak rupee contributed to SpiceJet reporting a net loss during the third quarter of the current year against net profit in the corresponding quarter previously.
SpiceJet reported a net loss of ₹172.79 crore (net profit ₹102 crore) on a total income of ₹1,807.73 crore (₹1,585.87 crore) for the third quarter ended December 31, 2013.
Expenditure jumped to ₹1,962.30 crore (₹1,485.14 crore) and expenses grew to ₹30.25 crore (₹24.35 crore). On the BSE, the company’s shares closed lower at ₹14.95 against the previous close of ₹15.20.
