Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting Group plans to expand its lighting business, Mr Parag Kulkarni, Vice-President and Business Head, Commercial and Furniture Business, said.
Mr Kulkarni was speaking on the sidelines of the launch of a new range of lighting and furniture products here on Friday.
Core strength
Wipro Consumer Care's core strength is in the B2B business and the focus will continue to be on this segment at the moment, he added.
“I cannot say whether we will enter the B2C business, but at the moment we are focussed on B2B,” he added.
The company follows the vendor model for its lighting business and has a presence in the IT, BPO, retail, pharmaceutical and auto industries. In outdoor lighting solutions, Wipro Consumer Care has worked on the Delhi and Mumbai international airports. “Infrastructure projects are a good opportunity in the lighting space,” said Mr Kulkarni.
The lighting and furniture segment contributes about 11-13 per cent to the company's total revenues. The company reported sales of Rs 2,750 crore in the previous fiscal and Rs 750 crore for the June quarter this year.
The current size of the Indian lighting market is estimated at Rs 1,500 crore.
