Adidas Group elevates Dave Thomas as MD-Emerging Markets

German sportswear major Adidas Group has elevated Dave Thomas to the position of Managing Director-Emerging Markets. This appointment will be effective from April 1. He has been leading Adidas Group’s operations in India since 2014.

Confirming the development, a global spokesperson told BusinessLine that Thomas has been appointed and promoted as Managing Director-Emerging markets effective April 1. “A successor for his role in India will be announced in due course. Until then, Dave will continue to oversee India,” the spokesperson added.

The Emerging Markets business unit at Adidas consists of markets such as West Asia, Turkey, India and Africa.

Under Thomas’ leadership, Adidas Group India crossed the ₹1,000 crore-mark in revenues in 2016-17. The company was the first international brand to get the nod to operate fully-owned retail stores under the single brand retail policy regime.

He has been with the Adidas Group since February 1998 and has held various senior roles across markets.
