Aditya Birla Group has restarted insulator production at its Rishra plant in West Bengal after signing long term wage settlement with the employees union.
The company has revoked suspension of work and production has started at the Aditya Birla Insulators, Rishra Plant with effect from June 18 following the wage settlement, said the Aditya Birla Nuvo in a statement..
The company had suspended work on May 13 after a section of workers had gone into illegal stoppage of work affecting the entire line of manufacturing process. This act on the part of workmen has disrupted the operations of the plant and the Unions could not bring normalcy of the work, the company had said.
Each worker is expected to get a raise of Rs 1,600 in basic pay and Rs 1.55 hike in DA per point. The plant employs about 1,000 permanent workers and another 1,000 contractual workers. It manufactures ceramic insulators used in electrical transmission networks. The plant had six trade unions as bargaining agents.
