Agappe Diagnostics Ltd, a diagnostic reagents and equipment manufacturer, has launched an indigenously-developed blood cell counter, in partnership with L&T Technology Services (LTTS).

“The latest innovation would revolutionise the diagnostics landscape in India, particularly due to its affordability,” said Thomas John, Managing Director, Agappe. Equipment and reagents will soon be made on a commercial scale at its facility in Ernakulam.

India needs 15,000-20,000 blood cell counter machines. These are imported from the US, Japan, China and Europe. The cost of imported machines and consumables are high. The company will eventually be able to support 55,000-60,000 laboratories in India provide accurate diagnostics, said John.
