The direct-to-home service company Airtel Digital TV today said that it has added 41 new channels to its platform, taking the total number to 247.
Of the 41 new additions, four are high definition (HD) channels — Star Gold, Star Movies, Star Plus, Star World.
“We believe that with HD and regional channels emerging as a key customer need, width and choice of content will be a key differentiator going forward,” Mr Sugato Banerji CMO-Airtel Digital TV said in a statement.
The company was offering three high definition channels — NGC, Discovery, Movies Now — so far.
The Bharti group company’s HD bouquet (of 7 channels) costs Rs 65 a month, excluding taxes.
Among the new additions to its Standard Definition (SD) bouquet there are five Telugu, two Tamil, two Malayalam, two Kannada, 11 Hindi, one Bhojpuri, one Oriya, one Bengali and 12 English channels.
The new SD channels include BBC Entertainment, CBS Love, CBS Spark, CBS Prime, CBeebies, DD Malayalam, Discovery Science, Discovery Turbo, Food Food, Fox Crime, Enterr 10, Sakshi TV, Suvarna NEWS 24*7 and Magik TV, among others, the statement said.
