With an aim to roll-out sports projects in India and Brazil, Dutch multinational Akzo Nobel has entered into a three-year partnership with the Cruyff Foundation to support the organisation’s projects to make sports more accessible to children all over the world.
The deal envisages providing children access to a safe sports environment to help develop their talent and skills.
The agreement will establish the paints and coatings firm as one of the top partners and preferred paint suppliers of the Cruyff Foundation. In India, Akzo Nobel enjoys 20 per cent market share in the premium paints segment.
Launched by famous Dutch footballer Johan Cruyff, the foundation is dedicated to setting up of projects for mainly disabled and unprivileged young people. Since it was formed in 1997, soccer fields have been created in neighbourhoods where children lack the possibility to play sports in a safe environment.
“We are proud to support the Cruyff Foundation's work through the delivery of our colours and coatings,’’ Conrad Keijzer, member of AkzoNobel’s Executive Committee, responsible for performance coatings, said in a statement.
One of the foundation’s latest projects, Schoolyard14, is designed to create a more sporting and challenging environment at schools in the Netherlands to prevent inactivity among young people.
