Alere Medical Pvt. Ltd., a global diagnostic device and service provider, announced the launch of its integrated facility in India for manufacturing Point-Of-Care (POC) diagnostic products, on Wednesday.
A dominant player in rapid diagnostic tests, Alere plans to achieve a target of ₹1,000 crore over the next three years, equipped with portfolio innovative diagnostic products to improve health outcomes.
Namal Nawana, CEO and President, Alere Inc., said: “The Manesar factory will produce rapid tests for various infectious diseases, including HIV, considering India is having the third largest HIV population. It further aims to transform India into a global manufacturing hub.”
Plus, this new facility is expected to generate 300 jobs and is likely to produce more than 150 million rapid diagnostic tests per year.
The company also intends to accelerate its export strategy to meet the demand for rapid diagnostics in the Asia-Pacific region, with the new facility.
“The diagnostic tests will be made available in remote areas through government generated programmes, and will be easy on the pocket,” Nawana added.
