Bucking the slowdown trends seen in the economy, the festival shopping season has perked up.
“The all-India retail trends looks good and if it continues we should see a recovery of sorts,” said S. Natarajan, Head, Sales & Retail, Titan Industries Ltd.
In early October, sales were dull but from Dussehra sales have perked up across categories, he said. For Titan itself, watch sales, he said, for the period Dussehera to Diwali, has spiked 18 per cent as compared to the same period last year.
Post Diwali, the wedding season sets in and “we expect this trend to continue,” said Natarajan. This year, he said many weddings have been pushed to the second half of the year, so brands can expect to register good sales.
Natarajan was in Chennai for the launch of Titan’s luxury watch brand Nebula’s Rajputana collection by actor Yami Gautam. These are 18k solid gold jewellery watches launched for the Diwali season.
Encrusted with precious stones, the watches are priced between Rs 1.09 lakh and Rs 1.45 lakh for men and the women’s watches in gold and pearl are priced between Rs 90,000 and Rs 1,69,000.
Nebula is offering customers a 22 k three gram Tanishq gold coin on the purchase of Nebula watches below Rs 60,000 and a six gram coin for purchases above it. It is also offering its customers a Tanishq pendant on purchase of any gold, steel or silver Nebula watch.
