Alstom Projects India Ltd, an energy requirement and transport solutions provider, on Tuesday, announced its name change to Alstom India Ltd, effective from June 6, 2012.

The name-change reflects the continuous evolution and growth in the business horizons of the company whose operations have now gone beyond being a “projects” company.

Alstom in India has capabilities in engineering, manufacturing, project management and supply of power generation and transport sector requirements, Mr Sunand Sharma, Chairman, Alstom India Ltd, said.

The change reinforces Alstom India Ltd as an integrated enterprise, with a long-term strategy to advance its presence and more closely aligns and strengthens the identity of each of its core areas in which it operates, he added.

Since it established presence in India in 1911, Alstom has been at the forefront of leading-edge technology at every level, serving the infrastructure markets essential to economic, social and environmental development of the country, Mr Sharma said.

Alstom is a global leader in the world of power generation, power transmission and rail infrastructure, with sales of euros 20 billion and booked close to euros 22 billion in orders in 2011-12.

In India, Alstom has different centres in Bangalore, Vadodara, Hosur, Noida, Kolkata among other places.
