Alstom T&D India, an arm of French firm Alstom, has posted a 28 per cent growth in net profit for the first quarter ended June 30, 2012 at Rs 23 crore, while its sales grew to Rs 671 crore.
“This robust performance is the result of company’s growth strategy and its continued focus on acquiring new orders, better cost optimisation and delivering operational excellence,” Alstom T&D India Managing Director Rathin Basu said in a statement.
The power transmission and distribution equipment firm reported a 95 per cent rise in order intake during the quarter compared to last year, the release said.
“Despite the challenging market environment, Alstom T&D India continues to maintain its leadership position, thanks to a healthy order pipeline, and to improve its revenue profile with a focus on accelerating our project execution,” he said.
Basu said the company has energised PowerGrid’s 765 kV and 400 kV priority bays at Bhiwani less than eight months, commissioned the electrical balance of plant (eBoP) package for the Essar group’s 2x600 MW power plant located at Salaya in Gujarat and charged the 220 kV sub-station for India’s largest solar power plant in Rajasthan for Reliance Infrastructure.
“We are well positioned as a high technology provider and this has enabled us to continue winning major orders, further improving a robust order backlog,” Basu said.
The total order book of the company stands at Rs 5,082.8 crore, the release said.
