Amara Raja Batteries Ltd has recorded a net profit of Rs 41.1 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2011, registering a growth of 12 per cent over Rs 36.7 crore during the corresponding quarter last year.
The company revenue for the fourth quarter was up 16 per cent at Rs 500.9 crore against Rs 431.7 crore it registered during the corresponding quarter last year.
During the year ended March 31, 2011, the company closed with a net profit of Rs 148.1 crore on a turnover of Rs 1,761.1 crore against a net profit of Rs 167 crore and revenues of Rs 1464.5 crore for the year-ago period.
The company had gross sales income of Rs 2076.5 crore during the FY 2011 against Rs 1,690.4 crore for the year-ago period.
Mr Jaydev Galla, Managing Director, in a statement to the exchanges said the company has crossed the milestone of Rs 2,000 crore in gross sales for the first time aided by good sales volumes. The board of directors of the company, which met at Milwaukee, US, declared a dividend of Rs 2.60 a share of Rs 2 each, subject to approvals. The dividend works out to about 15 per cent of the net profits of the company.
The company's shares closed at Rs 206.05 against the previous close of Rs 201.85.
