Amazon India opens warehouse in Telangana

E-commerce major Amazon India will have Fulfilment Centre (warehouse) spread over 280,000 square feet near here. The FC will be operational from next month. This is the largest investment in infrastructure in any single state by Amazon in India till date. The new facility helps Amazon deliver the consignments quicker.

With this, the company will have 11 FCs operational across nine States in the country with a combined storage capacity of over 2.5 million cubic feet. “For Amazon, we have given all clearances in 11 days, well within the guaranteed time under the new Industrial policy,” Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao has said.

Representatives of Amazon Seller Services Privated Limited signed an agreement with the Telangana government. The firm will train thousands of sellers across the state in e-commerce and take advantage of the digital economy, Dave Clark, Senior Vice President Worldwide Operations and Customer Service at Amazon, said.

Under the agreement, Amazon India will offer trainings to SMEs through seminars, workshops, video aids and ready reckoners on how to list and manage inventory for an ecommerce business.

“We will give small and medium businesses access to tools and technology that will empower their growth in the digital economy. People in Telangana can look forward to getting a quick, easy and convenient access to products from India’s largest selection of over 2.1 crore products on Amazon.in,” Amit Agarwal, Vice-President and Country Manager, Amazon India, has said in a statement after signing the agreement.
