Reliance Group’s Anil Ambani is all set to take to the skies for a sortie in the French Rafale fighter jet aircraft at the Aero India 2017 at Yelahanka airbase at the ongoing Asia’s premier air show tomorrow.
Reliance Defence has set up a joint venture with Rafale manufacturer Dassault Aviation for the execution of offset obligations under the 36 Rafale aircraft deal for the IAF at a value of 7.87 billion euros or about Rs 59,000 crore.
Ambani, a regular marathoner with a strict fitness regimen, will be kitted in flying overalls, G suit, Armde l’Air jacket torso harness, flying boots and helmet with oxygen mask, sources at the five-day show which began today said.
They said Ambani is also slated to undergo a pre-flight briefing on the emergency systems, how to operate the head-Up display and also the eject/egress procedures.
The sortie profile for Ambani comprises take-off acceleration from 200-500 Knots in full afterburner to 5,000 feet and thereafter climbing to 16,000 feet, where he will get the firsthand feel of advanced digital fly-by-wire flight control system (FBW FCS).
Once established in allocated flying sector, flying demo-assisted manoeuvres with Ambani at 20,000 feet comprising medium to steep turns, climb with engaged reheat at about 9G before getting into deep dive and level out at around 15,000ft will be performed for a rejoin and landing back at Yelahanka airbase, the sources said.
