The two-wheeler major Hero MotoCorp Limited, which is panning a Rs 1600-crore Greenfield manufacturing unit in Andhra Pradesh, has been allotted a 592-acre site to facilitate development of its new project.
The Andhra Pradesh Government and AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) have overcome the land hurdle for allocation to Hero MotoCorp in Satyavedu mandal of Chittoor district.
According to a statement from IYR Krishna Rao, Chief Secretary, Andhra Pradesh, the company can now take up the project in a peaceful environment at the allotted site.
At a meeting held here at his chambers with representatives of Hero Motors, the Chief Secretary said various issues on the land allotted to them were discussed.
In a Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier, the Government has agreed to allot 600 acres of land to the company where it proposes to manufacture two wheelers and spare parts in the plant providing direct and indirect employment to around 15,000 persons.
The State Cabinet meeting held on March 20 had discussed on the New Industrial Policy and took a decision to allot the necessary land and extend various incentives to Hero MotoCorp.
