The 2x800-MW Krishnapatnam thermal power station coming up in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh will commence commercial operation by March.
K Vijayanand, Chairman and Managing Director, AP Transco and AP Genco, said it is proposed to declare Commercial Operation Date (COD) of two units Krishnapatnam Thermal Power Station by the end of this financial year.
The coal-based thermal power plant is being developed by the State-owned AP Genco. While the unit one was commissioned last year, the unit two will be fully operational by March, augmenting capacity.
During the Republic Day celebrations, he said in order to meet the target set by the State for reducing transmission and distribution losses to 9 per cent, the power utilities would step up efforts to reduce losses.
The State, which has been chosen to be part of the ‘Power for All initiative,’ plans to ensure 24x7 power to all categories of consumers.
