Chennai-based hospital chain Apollo Hospitals has partnered with Google to add health information to Google’s knowledge in India. This new feature aims to give people access to health information quickly.

So now, when somebody asks Google about common health conditions, they see a health card with medical facts, typical symptoms, and details regarding how common the condition is, whether it’s critical, if it’s contagious, and at what ages it affects.

For some conditions one can also see high-quality illustrations from licensed medical illustrators. According to a press release, the health card is standardised and all the medical information is reviewed and certified by the specialists with Apollo Hospitals. The framework helps patients to understand information and have a better conversation with their doctor. Consultants from Apollo Hospitals across locations will aid in validating medical information on the web, the press release said.

The press statement, quoting Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited, said, “At Apollo Hospitals, we have always used technology to its optimum for the benefit of patients. With the launch of the Health Card Project, we aim to take this initiative to provide quality healthcare information accessible to majority of Indians.”
