Apollo Hospitals is keen to set up a hospital in Kashmir and Kerala where it is scouting for land.
In Kashmir “we have narrowed in on a 2.5 acre plot. But it needs to be finalised,” said Dr Prathap Reddy, Chairman.
On overseas expansion, Dr Reddy said Apollo is offering its expertise to set up a 350-bed super speciality hospital in Tanzania, Africa.
Apollo also has a tertiary care hospital in Dhaka, Bangladesh, wherein Apollo has provided business planning advisory. One more hospital is being planned in Chittagong.
“We do not invest in these overseas centres. We only share know-how,” He said.
The Apollo Hospitals group operates 54 hospitals, several clinics, dental care centres and a pharmacy chain across the country.
Dialysis centres
The group also runs dialysis centres in partnership with the Trivitron group. The alliance was in talks to rope in Da Vita, a US-based provider of kidney care. But the talks have failed and the venture will continue on its own, said Dr Reddy.
Meanwhile, Apollo is looking to shed its stake in its healthcare BPO arm Apollo Healthstreet.
The group was reportedly in talks with Genpact and Sutherland.
“But nothing has been finalised. A few private equity players also showed interest. But we are only looking at players in the same (BPO) business,” he said.
