Arun Kumar Gupta has assumed charge as the Chairman and Managing Director of Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), a navratna public sector undertaking under the aegis of the Ministry of Shipping, with effect from January 28.
After graduating from Marine Engineering College, Gupta joined the company in 1976. He has the experience of working at the senior management level of SCI, which includes serving as Director, Irano-Hind Shipping Company, at Tehran with additional charge of safety and quality department for a period of over three years.
With 37 years of shipping career, he has been a trustee of the Kandla Port and VO Chidambaranar Port Trust, Tuticorin.
Currently, he is the Chairman of the Institute of Marine Engineers-Mumbai branch, and has been on the governing council of the Institute of Marine Engineers and Narottam Morarjee Institute of Shipping.
