Ashok Leyland ,has received a €10-million order from Senegal to supply 400 mini buses.
This order comes from Senbus Industries, an urban bus-assembly company, in Dakar for the supply of 400 units of Eagle 916 minibuses valued at €10.06 million. The capital of Senegal will start receiving buses towards the end of June this year.
The project will provide mobility solutions to the country by expanding the reach and covering the remote areas through AFTU, a leading association of private-bus operator groups in Senegal, according to a statement. “This order will be the starting phase to connect the rural remote areas of Senegal to urban cities and to promote sustainable mobility. This will further empower the private transport sector in Senegal under AFTU,” said Arijit Dutta Chowdhury, Vice President, Project and Defence Sales, International Operations, Ashok Leyland.
Senbus Industries will be supplied with semi knocked-down buses. Ashok Leyland will collaborate with Senbus to assemble the buses locally in Senegal.
