Hinduja Group flagship company Ashok Leyland has inked a partnership with Krishnapatnam Port Company Ltd to provide 85 U-Trucks for inter-carting operations at the Port.
Ashok Leyland Managing Director Mr Vinod K Dasari and Krishnapatnam Port Company Ltd (KPCL) Chief Executive Officer Mr Anil Yendluri sealed the partnership by exchanging documents today, the company said.
“This is probably the first time that such an arrangement is being tried out in the Indian commercial vehicle industry. We see this association with KPCL as a definite win-win situation,” Ashok Leyland Managing Director Mr Vinod K Dasari said.
Ashok Leyland would continue to own and maintain the vehicles, as per the service levels required by KPCL, the company said.
With port operations set to increase, the current arrangement for the new generation trucks would be covered by an annual maintenance contract and by Ashok Leyland’s service product “ALLCOVER,” it added.
“In Ashok Leyland, we see a partner with shared values and are confident that we can together make this bold, new arrangement a resounding success,” Krishnapatnam Port Company CEO Mr Anil Yendluri said.
Krishnapatnam is one of the few ports that can handle ships with load capacities of 1,50,000 tonnes.
The agreement also envisages Ashok Leyland to set up a driver training facility and service bays in the KPCL premises, jointly with KPCL.
