Heavy vehicles manufacturer Ashok Leyland has opened its West African headquarters in Abidjan, and unveiled four products for the market.
With a partnership with the Ivory Coast government, Ashok Leyland is looking to develop a central automotive hub for West Africa in that country, said a statement from the company.
“The inauguration of this facility is a big step towards offering specialised after-sales solutions to our customers in Ivory Coast and crafting trust for our brand,” said Rajive Saharia, President, Global Sales & Distribution, Ashok Leyland.
The company has also rolled out four left-hand drive models that include the Captain range of tippers, Boss range of trucks and two bus ranges — Hawk and Mitr.
“With the new line-up of vehicles, we have just not restricted ourselves to providing vehicles to the transporters, but built a homogenous community of entrepreneurs in the country. Our partners will ensure that the Ivorian people receive the required funding at low-interest rates,” said Saharia.
Ashok Leyland had received an order worth $200 million from the Ministry of Transport in Ivory Coast. A total of 3,600 vehicles had been ordered and will be delivered to several customers starting from Tuesday through the Road Transport Development Fund, Ivory Coast.
