Chennai-based auto maker Ashok Leyland has launched its new intermediate commercial vehicle (ICV) Boss in Pune, marking the vehicle’s entry into the western region of the country.

Positioned as a vehicle that has the ruggedness of a truck and the comfort of a car, the Boss has been introduced in two variants — LX and LE — and has features like front and rear anti roll bars, according to Sandeep Agrawal, Special Director, Marketing.

To keep wear and tear to zero, the company is also transporting it to dealers on multi-axle trucks, he added.

CAB REPAIR FACILITY

The company is also setting up cab repair facilities in all it dealerships that will cut both the cost and time for repairing cabs.

“We have set up the facility in Mumbai and will expand this across India over the next two years,” Agrawal said, adding that this has helped cut repair cost to 30 per cent.

Traditionally, damaged cabs have to be replaced and sourcing them from the manufacturer took a few months’ time. By in-sourcing repairs, the vehicle is back on the road in 15 days’ time, he said, adding that the facility will be extended to all its cabbed vehicles that account for 30 per cent for all its vehicles.
