Ashok Leyland has reported a record annual sales and production numbers for the year ended March 31, 2011. Its annual sales increased to 94,105 vehicles, a 47 per cent over the corresponding year's figure of 63,926 units.
While the domestic market accounted for 83,799 vehicles (57,947 units) up 45 per cent, exports touched 10,306 vehicles (5,979 vehicles), up 72 per cent, according to a company press release.
March sales
In March alone, the Hinduja Group company sold 12,168 vehicles, up 21 per over the corresponding month last year.
The March sales figure was a record high for the company in a single month with total vehicle sales of 12,168 units, a 21 per cent jump. Domestic sales rose 22 per cent at 11,312 units and exports increased 12 per cent to 856 vehicles.
Total production for the year was the highest ever at 95,337 vehicles (64,673 vehicles) an increase of 47 per cent, according to the press release.
