Ashok Leyland on Wednesday reported 19.3 per cent decline in total sales during December 2012 at 7,299 units.
The Chennai—based heavy and commercial vehicle manufacturer sold 9,048 units during the corresponding period of last year.
The company clocked 88.2 per cent jump in sales of small commercial vehicle ‘DOST’, with 2,069 units being sold during December 2012 against 1,099 in the year ago period.
The company witnessed 34.2 per cent decline in sale of commercial vehicles during the month at 5,230 units as against 7,949 units during the same period of previous year.
In the period from April to December 2012, the company reported a 20.6 per cent jump in its sales at 79,990 units from 66,321 units during the corresponding period previous year.
It sold 23,898 “DOST” range of vehicles during April—December 2012 as against 2,700 units in the same period last year, it said.
The company registered 11.8 per cent decline in the sales of the commercial vehicles at 56,092 units from 63,621 units sold during the same period previous year.
