Commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland has reported a 30.4 per cent jump in sales in August at 9,432 units as against 7,232 units sold in the same period of last year, a company statement said.
For the five—month period April to August 2012, it sold 46,704 units, up by 35.9 per cent against 34,343 units in the corresponding period of previous year.
Commercial vehicle sales in the month under review declined by nine per cent to 6,597 units from 7,218 in the same month of last year.
The company sold 33,818 commercial vehicles during the April—August 2012 period compared to 34,329 units sold in the same period last year.
On its sales of small commercial vehicle—Dost, the company said it sold 2,835 units in August and 12,886 units during the period April to August 2012.
