Commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland has sued Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt Ltd (RNAIPL) to stop it from using equipment meant for making light commercial vehicles for the Ashok Leyland-Nissan joint venture.
A statement from Nissan India spokesperson, acknowledged that they have received a notice from Ashok Leyland and they are contesting it.
According to reliable sources, Ashok Leyland is seeking the injunction to stop RNAIPL from using ALL-Nissan joint venture equipment to make cars at the plant.
ALL-Nissan joint venture for LCVs does not have a factory of its own. Some equipment were at ALL’s factory in Hosur and some at RNAIPL plant at Oragadam near Chennai to make Stile/Evalia vehicles. But since these are not under production, they should have been returned as ALL owns a 50 per cent stake.
