Ashok Leyland has posted a 34 per cent surge in vehicle sales in January, boosted by Dost – the light commercial vehicle from the Leyland-Nissan joint venture.
The company sold 10,300 vehicles in January this year (7,711 units in the same period last year). This includes 1,100 units of Dost.
The commercial vehicle maker currently has a 22.3 per cent market share. It is targeting a 25 per cent market share by the end of this fiscal year, according to Mr K. Sridharan, Chief Financial Officer.
Ashok Leyland has posted a 54 per cent rise in net profit in the third quarter and a 29 per cent growth in sales.
The company's share price was down 5.95 per cent on Thursday at Rs 26.85 on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
