Asian destinations dominate the list of favourite overseas destinations for Indian travellers, according to the latest Hotel Price Index (HPI) report by Hotels.com.

Singapore retains its position as the most popular overseas destination for Indian travellers, ahead of Bangkok which is placed second. Dubai, an old favourite with Indians, places third on the list.

Kuala Lumpur, Pattaya and Phuket are the other Asian destinations in the top 10 most preferred overseas destinations for Indian travellers.

London is the fifth most preferred destination for Indians travelling overseas. Interestingly, it is the only European destination on the list. On the other hand, two American destinations — New York and Las Vegas — make it to the list.

The HPI report also reveals that both domestic and overseas travellers have a preferrence for Indian metro cities. According to the report, New Delhi is the most preferred destination for both domestic and international travellers. Other metros that place in the top 10 are Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.

Bangalore places third in the popularity stakes with international travellers, and sixth on Indian travellers’ list. Chennai is the fourth most favourite city for overseas travellers, whereas amongst Indian travellers it occupies the eighth position. Hyderabad is almost equally preferred by Indian and overseas travellers, occupying the eighth position among overseas travellers and ninth among Indian travellers.

Apart from the metros, Goa and Jaipur also feature in the list of top 10 favourite destinations for Indian and overseas travellers.
