Audi expects to sell more than 10,000 vehicles in India this year, with the German luxury car manufacturer recording growth during the year, despite the dull market conditions.
“We are confident that we will be the first luxury car manufacturer in the country to cross sales of 10,000 units in a calendar year,” Joe King, Head, Audi India, said in a statement.
The company had sold 9,003 cars in India last year.
Audi India has sold 7,391 vehicles this year (January-September 2013), a 15 per cent increase compared with 6,417 units sold during the same period a year ago.
The company’s sales for the quarter ended September 30 rose five per cent to 2,545 units against 2,417 units sold during the same month of previous year.
The luxury car maker sold 965 units in September this year.
For the car industry, September was the sixth straight month of declining sales impacted by rising fuel costs, rising interest rates and a slowing economy.
