German luxury carmaker, Audi, has said that with sales in the October-December period expected to be strong, it will cross its 2011 full-year sales target of 5,000 units (2010 it sold around 3,000 units) in India.
The Volkswagen Group company posted 35 per cent higher domestic sales in October at 482 units, with sales for the January-October period rising 85 per cent (4,692 units).
“This year is shaping into, what we believe will be, Audi's most successful year in India to date. We launched six models this year and with the introduction of an Audi showroom in Indore later this month, we are focused on strengthening our dealership network across India. With this exceptional performance, I am confident that we are well on our way to exceeding our sales targets of 5,000 cars this year,” said Mr Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.
Globally, Audi is well set to become the No. 2 premier car brand. Audi is the No. 1 brand in the premium segment in Europe and China and the fastest growing luxury car brand in the US and India. The Audi model range in India includes A4, A6, A7 Sportback, A8L, Q5, Q7, RS5 Coupé, the super sports car Audi R8 and the Audi R8 Spyder.
